How was my stay at Hilton Garden Inn Budapest City Centre – Hotel with a great location

My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Budapest City Centre was a very good experience. The hotel is very well located, just a few meters from the beautiful St. Stephen's Cathedral and several other attractions. The room accommodations were good, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a lot of variety and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, which is very helpful. In addition, among other amenities, the hotel has a gym and Wi-Fi.

If there is one thing I regret about my trip to Eastern Europe, it is the headache that a delayed connecting flight caused us, causing us to spend only one day in the beautiful city of Budapest. Anyway, these are things we are subject to, but that didn't stop us from making the most of every minute we spent there. Starting with our accommodation, which I will share in detail in this article.

Check-in

Our check-in was relatively quick and hassle-free. I had already paid using points we had in the HHonor program. The area was very spacious and all the reception staff were friendly and helpful.

At the entrance there is also a very pleasant lobby, with good armchairs.

Still at the entrance, next to the check-in counter, there is a space with various items for sale. Items that guests may have forgotten and may need during their stay, as well as some snacks, drinks and a coffee maker.

Outside the hotel there is a very pleasant area with armchairs and sofas, as well as small tables. Obviously, the ideal time to enjoy the space is during the summer months in Europe.

Bar

Still in the entrance area, further back, the hotel has a bar that serves not only drinks, but also meals and can be a good option for having a drink after a long day exploring the city.

Room

The hallway to the rooms had a very clean layout, as well as a water and ice machine.

Our room had a King size bed, telephone, flat screen TV, mirror. There was also an armchair and a footstool, as well as a lamp.

The desk served as a support for the TV, as well as the coffee maker. At the bottom it housed the minibar and contained three drawers.

Bathroom

The bathroom was a reasonable size, with a modern and functional design. The only negative point was that the glass in the shower was fixed (i.e. it didn't slide) and only covered part of the space, causing a good amount of water to run onto the floor.

Breakfast

The breakfast was quite good, with a good variety of items. In a separate area there were coffee machines and several tea options.

There were several options of hot dishes, from the more conventional ones like boiled eggs and sausages, to local dishes. I thought it was really cool that there was only half a wall separating the cooking area from the kitchen, so you could see the staff preparing the food. I thought it was really interesting.

There were several options of cold cuts, as well as cheeses and pâtés. The hotel offered several types of cereals and three different types of milk.

One interesting thing the hotel offered was a corner with a waffle maker and its toppings, which included, of course, Nutella! Imagine if I didn't visit that little corner!

The variety of breads offered was not large, but sufficient. Separately there was a table with croissants and sweet cookies, as well as donuts.

There were three types of juices available, as well as water. The fruit selection was a weak point for me. I expected more options.

Academia

The gym was reasonably well equipped, not very large but comfortable for those who wanted to use it. When I visited, there was no one there.
